Utility scale generation application process​

Powerco recently became the new owner of Firstlight Network. This means that all new utility scale generation applications for Tairāwhiti and Wairoa are to be submitted through the Powerco process.

For applications received before 1 October 2026, we are contacting developers to clarify which aspects of the Powerco USDG process will be determined on a case-by-case basis, to provide greater certainty and support.
