The team at Eastland Network have a real focus on safety and sustainability. So when they were ordering new PPE, they wondered if there was a way they could recycle their old hard hats.
Answer: you’re never too young to learn about sustainability and safety!
Eastland Network Office Coordinator Christine O’Dwyer collected all the old hard hats. Then, together with Engineer George Whakatope and Marketing and Engagement Coordinator Ruby Murdoch, they took them to Sticky Fingers Childcare and Education Centre.
They handed out the hats and had a chat about how important it is for Network crews to keep their angaanga safe when working around power lines. George also talked about what it’s like to be a grown up engineer who helps to keep the lights on for Tairāwhiti.
“We really appreciate Eastland Network’s visit, and the hats and photos they gave us to share with our tamariki,” says Sticky Fingers Centre Manager Dianne Brooking.
